With regard to the deputation which Sir Philip
Cunliffe-Lister has been good enough to agree to receive on
Tuesday next, I beg to enclose, as promised, the list of
subjects which the deputation desires to lay before the
Colonial Secretary.
1. Mui Tsai.
The present position of the Mui Tsai question in
Hong Kong, with special reference to the question of whether

adoption of girl children is being made an excuse for evasion
of the law with regard to Mui Tsai and whether fresh legisla-
tion or regulations are required to deal with this
difficulty.
2. Status of Coloured Women
The question of the condition and status of coloured
women in certain of the Crown Colonies etc. in Africa; with
special reference to the Report, Colonial Paper No.65, and
to the question of whether the various constructive
suggestions
